Sketchabilities Reveal #128~

It's Reveal Day again at Sketchabilities!
We are ready to inspire and get you crafting as we head into this busy holiday season.
I chose to look back at summer for my layout.

Take a really close look at this beautiful sketch! There are so many little details to inspire you.

I chose to work with patterned papers and embellishments from the Gramercy Road collection from Gossamer Blue. This is a kit that I got through Scrap Shotz, and I loved working with it.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my Sketchabilities Reveal. Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team came up with, with the same sketch.

Homemade with Hints of Gold~

Today I am sharing my second layout that I created at the Gadget Girls Mega Crop in October. I was so busy that weekend that I only finished 2 layouts.

I created this layout using another Scrap Shotz kit, this one featuring the Homemade collection from Pebbles Inc. I LOVE sparkle and shine, these gold accents are fabulous!

When I saw this collection I knew right away that I would like to use it with an older photo, one from our engagement photo shoot with our brass instruments. That bit of golden sparkle is the perfect accent for the photo.

I did add some Prima flowers from my own collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I Love This One~

Just a pretty little layout to brighten your day!
Even when she's relaxed she's beautiful, inside and out!
I wanted to create an elegant layout filled with texture and warmth.

My layout was created using the Gramercy Road collection from Gossamer Blue.
Some Prima flowers, metal key & keyhole, and pretty textured ribbon and rosettes...made perfect embellishments.

The dyed paper doily and baker's twine are from the Curtsey Boutique.

Thanks for stopping by!

May Arts Ribbon: Kid's Crafting Blog Hop~

Today I am teaming up with the rest of the Ribbonistas from May Arts Ribbon to create and inspire. We are sharing ideas for crafting with your kids for the holidays.
I had so much fun creating this fun little project, that I think I am a kid at heart for sure!

So today I am sharing my Wooden Spoon Christmas Tree.

Project Recipe:
Wooden Spoon
May Arts Ribbon:
Gold Glitter
Yellow Button
Hot Glue

I picked up my wooden spoon at my local dollarstore. I chose the spoon that already had the hole drilled in the top of the handle. This just makes it so much easier to hang.

I painted my spoon with DecoArt's Dazzling Gold Paint. I then used Deco Page adhesive to paint a portion of the bottom of the spoon, then quickly added my gold glitter.

Adding the ribbon is fun and super easy. I just cut tons of pieces of different coordinating ribbon and string and then made my way up the handle of the spoon. It's simply tying knots over and over again. You can trim the ribbon afterwards to create the tree shape.
The last thing I added was my star at the top, and a button in the middle.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out all of our creations! I hope we've inspired you to get crafty with your family over this holiday season.

Doily Delight~

I don't know if you have noticed, by I may or may not LOVE doilies!
Especially where I get to scrapbook lots of photos of my 2 beautiful step daughters, I can use pretty, frilly doilies whenever I would like!

This layout features multiple dyed doilies from The Curtsey Boutique.

I create the layout using patterned papers and embellishments from the Find Your Wings and Fly collection from My Mind's Eye.

I spy some more Curtsey Boutique products, some mini shipping tags and this white library card.
I also used some oh so pretty May Arts Ribbon!

Craft Lightning: Kid's Holiday Crafting~

I am thrilled to be a part of the Craft Lightning fun again this time around.
Thank you so much to the Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for organizing this bevy of creative bloggers and our inspiration.

Today I am sharing my creation as a part of the 15 Minute Craft Lightning. The theme this time around was Kid's Crafts for the Holidays.

My creation is a sweet and simple Christmas Ornament made from a wooden thread spool.

Project Recipe:
Small Strip of Patterned Paper
May Arts Ribbon: Brown Stripe and Golden Christmas Trees
2 Large Red Buttons
3 Small Brown Buttons
Hot Glue

So after you paint your wooden spool, I simply added my coordinating patterned paper.

I then took a piece of the brown striped ribbon about 12" long, folded it in half and kept the loop at the top. I then tied a knot near the top leaving a nice loop for hanging.

I then thread the ribbon through the large button at the top, then through the spool, and through the bottom button as well. Holding it all together tightly, I then tied a knot at the bottom of the ornament. Then just trim your ribbon and make the ends pretty.

Using my hot glue gun I added my May Arts golden Christmas trees and buttons in the middle.
That is it, your country chic wooden spool ornaments are finished!

Nine & Co: Smile Always~

Today I am sharing a pretty and sparkling layout I created using patterned papers and embellishments from the Nine & Co. collection from Teresa Collins.
I adore the colours used in this collection, which worked great for these sunny photos from this past summer.

That sparkly gold sequin heart is from May Arts Ribbon.

I love all of those hints of gold through the collections patterns and embellishments.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my Nine & Co. creation.

Sketchabilities Reveal #127~

It is Sketchabilities Reveal Day! This reveal is the first reveal of our new term, and a new team. So I hope you take the time to head over to the Sketchabilities blog and check out all of their fabulous creations!

Here is my take on this really fun sketch.

This sketch has so much potential, so many little details to play with.

I chose to work with the Autumn Song collection from Bo Bunny, which I picked up at The Cutting Garden.

You'll see an oh so pretty dyed doily from the Curtsey Boutique and the green and brown leaves are actually some great ribbon cut apart from May Arts Ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my Sketchabilities Reveal, I hope you decide to play along as well!

You ARE Awesome~

This is a layout that I created at a recent crop with The Cutting Garden.
The photos were taken while on a geocaching trip this summer in PEI, one of our favourite past times. If you look very closely...Margaret's t-shirt says "I am awesome".
So the title of the layout came very easily.
I am so lucky to have 2 girls that love to have their picture taken at any given time!
Making it so fun for me to create layouts to share!

I created this layout using the Market Street collection from My Mind's Eye, which happens to be one of my favourites! I used the patterned papers and the coordinating embellishments.

I added some white rosettes, and pearlescent beads which I painted gold to accent my YOU banner at the top of the layout. Both from May Arts Ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by to take a peek at my You Are Awesome layout!

This is What it's All About~

These are 2 photos that I adore. They bring a smile to my face when I think about that moment in time. It was a beautiful day, the day of my brother and sister-in-law's wedding. After eating a fabulous meal, and feeling oh so full...we went for a little walk outside at dusk.
Just happens that there was a geocache near by, so we decided to try and go get it!
Crawling through a fence gate, and rolling on the ground....Margaret was able to make the grab, while we watched from the other side of the fence.
My family makes me smile, laugh and cherish these moments.

I wanted to create a layout as pretty as my memory.
I created this layout using the Maggie Holmes, Open Book collection from Crate Paper. The flowers are from Petaloo, and Prima. The dyed doily and polka dot embossed tag are from the Curtsey Boutique.

That wide shimmery ribbon is from May Arts Ribbon, and is the perfect accent for that tag.
I also had a package of coordinating chipboard frames that I used to not only frame the smaller photo, but also to create a layered border. I framed pieces of the coordinating patterns from the collection.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing in one of my favourite memories.

Lest We Forget~

In Flanders fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank You
Lest We Forget
