Momma's DIY T-Shirt Cat House~

Today I thought I would share a project that my Mother made.

She is an animal lover to the bone, so when she found this idea online somewhere, she HAD to try it for herself.

All you need is a t-shirt that you're not using, and a box that the t-shirt fits snuggly over.

First you're going to cut off the top flaps of the cardboard box, and find a blanket or cushion to fit in the bottom of the box to make it cozy.

Once you have the t-shirt pulled over, you are going to tuck the sleeves in against the box. In the tutorial my mother found online they had stapled the shirt in the back as cleanly as possible. But mom thought it would be better is you were able to easily remove the shirt to be washed.

So instead, she used a couple of large safety pins to keep the back tidy.

Her one cat Mini loves her new little house.

Decorative Mason Jar Tutorial~

Today I'm sharing a quick and easy way to decorate a simple mason jar in order to make it a beautiful addition to your home or craftroom's decor.

Over the summer I picked up a grab bag of oh so pretty mini spools of colourful thread, from one of my favourite thrift stores. I could picture it at the time....having them displayed in my craft room in a pretty decorative jar.

So this afternoon I made that thought a reality.

So, I plugged in my hot glue gun and cut all of my pieces of ribbon and fabric to the right length to fit around the neck of the jar.

I attached the rouged fabric from the Curtsey Boutique first.

Then I attached the Woven Burlap ribbon from May Arts.

The String Bead Ribbon from May Arts was added last, to keep it in place I used the hot glue to tack it in a few places around the jar.

Then your jar is ready for other embellishments. I attached the felt butterfly and rose from the Curtsey Boutique.

How pretty are those spools of thread!?!

Tom & Megan Got Married~

My layout showcases a photo that I cherish. My brother and now sister in law got married just a couple of weeks ago. This is a layout that I created to have on display at their reception.

I created the layout based on the current Sketchabilities Sketch #122.

I don't often scrapbook with the colour purple, but purple happens to be Megan's favourite colour. So I chose to work with the Fair Skies collection from Farm House Paper Company.

The rich vintage styled patterns pick up the colours of the photo nicely.

To add a little sparkle I added the vintage gold shimmery ribbon and sequins heart from May Arts. The stunning flowers, chalkboard heart and hand dyed doily are from The Curtsey Boutique.

I added a little more sparkle to the hot air balloon using Gold Paper Effects from DecoArt.

Parisian Double~

I thought I would showcase an upcoming class today on the blog.

I don't often do double layouts, but on occasion I have a series of photos that I want to work with. These photos are all images taken by my brother on a recent trip to France.

The pastel tones were prefect for these outdoor and garden images.

The patterned papers are ones that I have had for some time, and have since been discontinued. They are from the Bonjour Collection by KaiserCraft.

I matted the photos of the right hand side of the layout together. This will save you some space when using multiple photos.

Together We Are Family~

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for an upcoming class that I am teaching at The Cutting Garden, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I have been drawn to these chalk style patterns for a while now, but haven't worked with them too often....until now!

I chose to work with the Chalk Studio II Collection, from My Mind's Eye. I love the hints of coral and minty teal green, so very pretty!

I chose to pick up the minty teal green using the buttons and the ribbon.

September Crop Class~

Today I am sharing a layout that I created for an upcoming class.

This is the class that I will be teaching at the Scrapbook Cafe Fall Crop here in Truro.

This is a smaller crop, so I am inviting people outside the crop to come to class as well.

Inked in brown and I used a corner rounder. You may like to bring glue dots for the buttons.

Sketchabilities Reveal #122~

It's reveal day at Sketchabilities!

The day where a new beautiful sketch is unveiled, and you get to see what all of the other talented designers have created with the same sketch.

So here is the the layout that I created with Sketch #122.

I chose to work with the Indian Summer Collection by We R Memory Keepers. I adore the colours in this collection! They worked perfectly with this sunset photo of Margaret in the beach.

I spy a beautiful grey tulle flower from Curtsey Boutique.

I also used some May Arts ribbon as leaves for the flower and to add texture under the die cut heart.
