Thank You & Happy Birthday~

Today I am sharing a pretty and simple card that I created.
I like to have a few Thank You cards on hand, you never know when you will need one to give to someone that truly does something that you appreciate.
For instance, I think this bright and cheery card is going to go to our fabulous neighbour that has a snowblower. Twice this winter, we have been away for substantial snow storms, and when we have come home, our driveway and walkway to the house has been plowed out so that we could get in.
Thank You!

I used the Cold Avocado Soup Collection of paper and embellishments by JilliBean Soup to create my card. The balloon was created using a 1.75" circle punch, slightly altered. Everything else I cut by hand.

I used the same sweet card design to create this Happy Birthday card. I just can't get enough of these cute little hot air balloons.

For this card I used the Happy-Go-Lucky Collection from Fancy Pants Designs.

Thank you for stopping by, and be sure to thank someone everyday for something special that they do.

Swagger Mini Book~

Today I'm sharing a Mini Book that I created using the Swagger Collection by Fancy Pants.
I have loved working with this manly collection of papers and embellishments. So with my last pieces of Swagger, I decided to create this Mini Book.

Have you ever been left with only scraps of patterns from a collection, yet TONS of  coordinating embellishments? Well, a Mini Book is a great way to use up all those die cuts, tags and stickers.

To start with, I even used the chipboard packaging from the stickers, brads and die cuts as pages for my Mini Book. I knew from the get go that I wanted my pages to be all different shapes and sizes. This was a great start. One side of the packaging was even printed with a coordinating pattern to the collection.

I wanted the front cover to be full of dimension and texture. So I used metal, corrugated grey cardboard, buttons, ribbon and one of the small coordinating envelopes.

A closer look at the ribbon and fibres I used on the rings.

I also added some adhesive backed cork here and there for more texture.
The die cuts and tags make for a very easy way to decorate pages of any size.

I love the little flagged paper clips.

I used the larger coordinating envelopes as pages, and adhered tags that were the same size together to create another page.

The back cover was just brown cardstock that I added the adhesive backed cork to.

A better look at all the different sized pages of my Mini Book.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I wonder what you will create next with all of those left over embellishments?

Altered Wooden Cutting Board~

This project all began before Christmas while shopping at The Great Canadian Dollar Store, when I came across this great wooden cutting board. Oddly enough, cutting up veggies on it, was not the first thought that came into my mind.
Instead, I wanted to turn it into a canvas of sorts to display one of my favourite photos.
It has a great stainless steel ring at the top of the board that would be great for hanging on the wall.

Here it is when I started. It cost $5, and I think it was totally worth it!

I used the Happy-Go-Lucky Collection from Fancy Pants Designs. I had the coordinating stickers and embellishments to play with as well.
I added chocolate brown Liquid Pearls to my little banners.

The flowers are all from Prima.
The buttons are from Buttons Galore & More.

I love how it turned out in the end.

Thank you so much for stopping by! What will you find to craft with the next time you're wandering around your favourite store?

Canadian Scrapbooker Spring 2014~

I was SO excited to get my issues of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine in the mail this afternoon. I had been hearing of everyone else getting their issues from their local scrapbook stores, and I was getting antsy!

The Spring 2014 Issue marks a full year of issues that I have had projects in. I am so proud to be a "Canadian Scrapbooker"!

Here is the first of 2 layouts that I had in this issue. A Robert Munsch themed layout, using a quote from one of his poems.

The second layout is in the Wedding section of the magazine. A layout that I created using Teresa Collins product and showcases journalling by my VERY proud hubby.

If you haven't already, be sure to pick up your Spring 2014 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker. There are a TON of east coast creations featured!!

Because I was sent 2 copies of this issue, I thought I would do a little giveaway!
If you would like to get your hands on this magazine and a Spring themed pack of buttons from Buttons Galore & More, enter below!

Happy Birthday 2 You~

This is a 6x6 card that I created recently. I fully admit that I don't often create cards, but when I do I find they look a lot like my scrapbook layouts. I love to layer and mix great patterns and bright colours.
This card is a perfect example of that.

Project Recipe:

  • JilliBean Soup- Cold Avocado Soup Collection (patterned papers and stickers)
  • Want 2 Scrap- Bling
  • Making Memories Glitter Number
  • EK Success Photo Corner Punch

The 6x6 card is created to open sort of like french doors, but one side is smaller than the other on this card. One flap is 2" the other is 4".

Well Travelled Reveal #2~

Today is my second reveal for Down a Dirt Road Scrapbooking for February.
February's kit is compiled of paper and embellishments from Carta Bella's, Well Travelled Collection.

A challenge that was placed with this kit was to make something that is Valentine's themed, being as it is February. So I created two this Love themed layout using photos from my cousins wedding this past summer.

I adore the birch bark hearts that were sent along with my kit, so pretty and I love the texture.

I added these glitter black Thickers for my title.

My second layout today, shows off a little more of the collections travel theme.

The black buttons are of course from Buttons Galore & More.

Thank you for stopping by, be sure to check out Down a Dirt Road Scrapbooking and all the fun that we have on the forum there!
