Back from Pictou~

Last night I got home from a wonderful weekend spent at Pictou Lodge. The Gadget Girls hosted a fun filled crop with the help of Shabby Shutters and their team. It was great to see old friends and meet lots of new ones! I loved cropping with these crazy fabulous women!

I was also fairly productive through the weekend. My first post this week is going to be of my favorite overall layout that I created. For a couple of reasons :)
1. I love the circa 1989 photo of Sean. This was when he was playing in the Ceremonial Guard Band in Ottawa.
2. I just loved how the layout turned out.

The red patterned paper was from Prima's December 25th Collection.
The diamond pattern is by Graphic 45.
I also used a gold foil paper to add shine.

Black Liquid Pearls were added around the red and onto the scrolls.

Averie~

Just a little more Averie LOVE on the blog today! A fairly simple layout I created using blacks and whites...a little glitter and as always a layered flower.

Generations~

Here are a couple of layouts I created while at a crop this past weekend in Truro. Each of them are created using the Generations Collection from Simple Stories. Such a beautiful warm toned line of papers and embellishments.

Notice I added the 4x6 overlay by Simple Stories onto the 5x7 photo. I liked the effect it made.
Also used on this layout were Chocolate Perfect Pearls and a paper bag ruffle.

Table Number Love~

I thought I would post a couple of photos of our table numbers for our wedding reception. I love how they turned out.

The frames I bought at the Dollarama, and they are meant to hold a 4x6.

The background in each frame and all the flowers are made from maps of nova Scotia and PEI. The bonus is that they are free paper!

Life is funny~

As some of you know I have taken on teaching a few classes at my local Michaels store. Michaels carries a wide variety of crafting product, but in the scrapbooking section a large amount of it is made by EK Success and Martha Stewart Crafts. These are both companies I designed for, for many years.

In order to teach any classes at a Michaels store you need to be certified through EK Success, what used to be the SDU classes, now the Spotted Canary School. I sent a message to those in charge at EK Success to see if I really did need to take these classes. I was a little shocked to find out that indeed, I did need to take the classes.

So I did. It took nearly 6 hours of online classes. I got my certificate in the mail today as well as the class handbook that all students get when they take the classes. I am listed as a contributer of the book as it is riddled with my designs.

But...Yay!! Now I can teach at Michaels! lol

For the Kitchen~

Here are a few items that I created for the kitchen. I repurposed a couple of common items to create some cute and useful kitchen tools.

My MEMO board was created using a  metal cookies sheet. Using Simple Stories papers and embellishments I decorated the cookie sheet as well as the magnets stuck to it.

The recipe box and large paper clip are also covered with Simple Stories papers.

Sneak Peek~

I have been working on a sample for an upcoming class at Shabby Shutters, hopefully in May. The class will be a pretty Home Decor item....emphasis on the word "HOME". Contact Sherry at Shabby Shutters if you're interested.

My First Crown~

I thought I would share my first attempt at making a crown. Margaret needed a hat for silly hat day, so I suggested a crown and that I could make it. Turns out it wasn't THAT hard!

A Little Bit of Crop Time~

Yesterday I attended a day long crop in New Waterford. I didn't stay the entire day, but I still got quite a bit done. Here are the layouts I created.

Wedded Bliss~

This weekend while attending and teaching at a FABULOUS crop hosted by The Cutting Garden in Port Hawksbury, I created this layout. The photo is of my soon to be Mother and Father-in-law. Bill and Maureen are two of the kindest people I have ever met and I loved creating this layout of them on their wedding day in 1966. Enjoy!

The patterned papers are by Kaisercraft from the After Five Collection
I used Perfect Pearls to outline the shaped background with dots.
