The DiPenta Project: Part 1~

Today I am sharing the first instalment of The DiPenta Project.
I had a family sent my way in order to help them create a heritage scrapbook. I have created scrapbooks in the past for other people, but this is my first heritage album for someone else.
I have been working on and off on this project now for a few months.

Creating a scrapbook for someone else, can have it's challenges. Usually the biggest challenge, is that often I am given photos with really very little information to go with them. Add that to the fact that often I do not know anyone in the photos themselves, it poses challenges.

BUT, the DiPenta family has their act together! I have never taken on such an in depth and organized project. The sheer amount of beautiful photos complete with so much crucial information is just such a pleasure to work with.

Being given such a large collection, my first couple of times working on the project was simply organizing. Post It notes came in very handy. I created piles of "ready to scrapbook", "make copies of photos" and "come back to".
After then making some copies of photos, mostly to make them a little smaller, from larger portraits. I then went back to organizing. Now mainly into 2 categories, "ornate and elegant" for the portraits and fancier photos and then "everyday photos".

The layouts I chose to start with were the "ornate and elegant". Generally these will be one photo per page in order to showcase these portraits properly. They are also a little more fun to embellish and get fancy with.
Today's post is  dedicated to 3 of those layouts.

The first layout features patterned papers from 2 collections. The Archivist collection from Prima and  the Heritage collection from Bo Bunny.

You'll also find this oh so pretty lace and pearl ribbon from May Arts.

The second layout features patterned papers from the Heirloom collection from Kaisercraft.

The third and final layout today features patterned papers from the DIY Shop collection from Crate Paper.

Something you may notice about all 3 of these layouts is that I used photo corners on all of the photos. This is for multiple reasons. First, because these are not my photos, I want to make sure that these photos can be accessed by other family members to copy if need be. Second, from an archival sense, this will keep photos as pristine as possible. And third, it really completes the vintage or heritage look of an album.

I hope you continue to follow along with the process of the DiPenta Project, where I will be sharing tips and tricks to creating a heritage album.

Uncle Kevin~

I printed a few photos that were taken during the girls' trip to BC to visit their Uncle Kevin and family. Such special memories for them to remember.
This was one of the only shots with them all together and Kiara behind the camera, so I wanted to create a pretty layout for their album.

I used the Pebbles, Walnut Grove Collection. Some Prima flowers, and some May Arts Ribbon accents.

I just happened to have the perfect Thickers letter stickers for the layout. That collection of mine comes in handy from time to time.

One More Winter Layout~

I found this layout in a stash of files. It was a layout that I created as a class initially and I was going to share as a May Arts Ribbon project. But for some reason it got put aside and other projects came and went.
So instead I will share it here :)
This will be my last winter layout this season, for all of you that are so very sick of cold weather.

I used patterned papers from the Bo Bunny Altitude Collection.

Look at that adorable mini pom pom ribbon from May Arts!

I also used a little hint of white tulle.

Glad you stopped by, even though it was a winter layout posted in the spring!

I am part of Team 3. Sketches In Thyme has a sketch challenge every week! I hope to play along with some of the other week's challenges in the future too.
But for now, here is the sketch that Team 3 had for inspiration.

Here is my layout that I created with the inspiration of the sketch above.

I chose to use the oh so pretty I Am collection from Simple Stories. I cannot tell you how much I love the hints of gold.

Playing Along with Sketchabilities #137~

I was at a crop over the weekend, it was later in the evening and all of my creative mojo had up and gone! Online I went and sourced out this latest sketch at Sketchabilities.

This is my first time playing along with Sketchabilities as a former design team member. It's always nice to create from Karan's sketches.
Here is the layout that I created.

Here is the sketch that I based my layout on.

I used the Find Your Wings & Fly collection from My Mind's Eye to create my layout, including most of the embellishments.

Snickers~

Today I am doing a quick share of a layout I created a little while back.
I love it's fun and bright colours and patterns. It features one of my favourite photos of our crazy pooch, Kya.
Around our house she's also known as Snickers.

I used patterned papers from the Me-Ology Collection from Fancy Pants.

The glitter Thicker letter stickers were perfect for the layout!

I picked up this fab kit from Kelly at My Stamping Studio.
Thanks for stopping by to check it out!

My Creative Scrapbook: April Sketch Challenge~

I am back today with another layout that I created for My Creative Scrapbook.
Did you know that they have a Sketch Challenge that they post monthly?
I love a great sketch to get those creative juices flowing. This is the first layout that I created using April's Main Kit.

This is the sketch that I started from, created by the talented Kristine Davidson...also a fellow East Coast Canadian.

I chose to work with these two sweet photos of our niece. Perfectly pretty to coordinate with the gorgeous patterns in April's Main Kit.

The patterned papers and embellishments are from the Rise & Shine collection from American Crafts.

I love the little polaroid frames, and I love to use them for more than just framing a photo!

Of course I added a few buttons from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my April Sketch Challenge layout!

I Am a Canadian Scrapbooker Cover Girl~

I shared this Spring how I was so honoured and excited to be able to vie for the Cover of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. In the Spring issue I was featured as one of the "Other Takes on the Cover".
Well I am over the moon ecstatic to tell you that I made the Cover of the Summer issue!!

Much like last time, I was chosen to vie for the cover. I was sent the image of the little girl in the beautiful dress, and I took it from there.

The colours were so bright and brilliant I didn't want to fight it. I played up those colours with my patterns and embellishments.
Everything from the black tulle, pink satin and pink burlap string from May Arts Ribbon.
To the patterned papers from Echo Park and Pebbles Inc.
I added chipboard frames and rub ons from Crate Paper and that beautiful flower from Prima Marketing.
A few buttons, enamel dots and cardstock, and there you have it!

I have a doily addiction. I love to dip dye them, to have on hand for occasions like this.

I love to share what I LOVE to do. I would like to thank everyone for every "Like", comment, "Pin" or "Share". It means the world to me.
