Sketchabilities Reveal #116~

It's that time again, Sketchabilities Design Team Reveal Day!
So here we go!

I loved all the layers incorporated in the sketch.

We were so very lucky to have a manufacturer sponsor for this reveal, and they are Creative Embellishments. They make beautiful chipboard and wood veneer embellishments in a huge variety of shapes.
This week I chose to work with my pack of Autumn Leaves chipboard. I thought they would look great with my paper towel flower I created.

To dress up my chipboard leaves I started with Tim Holtz Distress Paint, Tarnished Brass. It just adds some great colour and shine.

I wanted to pick up a little more shine from some of my other embellishments, so I added some gold glitter to the tips of my Creative Embellishments leaves using DecoArt Twinkle Writers.

I love how glitzy they turned out!
You can also find my tutorial on how to create my Paper Towel Flowers here.

I also used some super cute Curtsey Boutique embellishments. Check out the black and white baker's twine, the cute white tags and the embossed envelope that they are in.

Capture Life~

Today I am sharing two layouts that I created recently while cropping with friends.
Both of these layouts were created using the Capture Life Collection by Echo Park. The vibrant colours and funky patterns have been fun to work with.

The first layout also features some metal embellishments, and buttons from Buttons Galore & More.

Plus a little bit of washi too!

The second layout features a couple of fun photos taken while on vacation in Smiths Falls last summer. Some hidden journalling shares some of those funny memories too.

The die cuts and stickers are also from the Capture Life Collection.

I also used one of the frame stickers right on the photo, I thought it would be a fun way to focus on the girls!

Thanks for stopping by to check out these Capture Life layouts, stay tined for more crop time reveals!

Apple Blossom Class~

Well, for the past few years I have done the same thing every Apple Blossom Festival weekend, and that is march in the Apple Blossom Festival Parade.
Not this year! This year I will be cropping close by in Windsor with My Stamping Studio and teaching a double layout class.
I will let you in on a little secret...I don't love to march in parades!
Thank you for getting me out of it!

Here is my sample below.

So if you are attending the crop and would like to create this oh so pretty layout using this fabulous Teresa Collins and May Arts product, you can contact Kelly at My Stamping Studio to sign up!

Hope to see you there!

Craft Hoarders Challenge #9: Metal & Glass~

So excited to be sharing my second creation as a Guest Designer for Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog.
The challenge this time around was Metal & Glass.

Here is the layout that I created:

A huge Thank You to my friend Elena for the use of her photos of her adorable daughters. They were perfect photos for the patterned papers that I wanted to use. Amy Tangerine's Plus One Collection.

"Let's Get Physical"
When Elena left the photos with me she gave me the perfect title idea. Her daughter's bright clothing choices and her antics in the photos were just perfect for the 80's music reference.
The letter stickers were all by Thickers.

Now showcasing the whole point of this challenge, Metal & Glass.
I wanted to use multiple types of metal. So I used simple silver mini brads, a large silver paperclip, aluminum can tabs in green & blue, as well as large silver brads with clear crystals. The crystals are my version of glass.

If you look carefully, you can find aluminum can tabs in a ton of colours! Below is just a sampling of my collection:

Pop can tabs can be used as ribbon charms, tag tabs, border accents, to lace with twine and so much more.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I challenge you to play along with the challenge this time around at Craft Hoarders Anonymous!

May Arts: Semi Formal~

Can you tell I have been excited to work with Zoe and Tyler's semi formal photos?
This is the third layout that I have created with the different photos. I have loved working with them in black and white, that way I can use almost any paper I desire!
When I was at The Cutting Garden recently, I picked up this gorgeous Silver Ornate Ribbon by May Arts. When I saw it I knew exactly what I was going to do with it, so I made sure to get 2 yards!

I thought I would search out a challenge to work with for this layout.
So I found Scrap Around the World, a challenge blog that likes to showcase creations from around the globe. They had a mood board challenge this time around.

It was bright, pretty and fun....so I thought I could incorporate it with what I had on hand.

I used patterned paper and sticker embellishments from the Date Night collection, by Chickaniddy Crafts. Such pretty patterns, this was my first time using product from Chickaniddy Crafts. I wanted to play up the glitz and glam, so I also decided to add the gold glitter polka dot patterned paper.

The flowers are by Prima and the buttons from Buttons Galore & More.

This ribbon already has adhesive on the back, making it so easy to work with for papercrafting.
I wanted to do my classic mitered corners, but this time using this fabulous ribbon from May Arts. Turns out it worked great!

Craft Lightning: Thank You Card~

I am thrilled to be invited to participate once again in the Craft Lightning, 15 Minute Craft round-up. Thank you to The Country Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts for hosting once again!

This time around I chose to create a quick and easy Thank You Pocket Card.
With a few simple lines with my scoring blade I created the card and the pocket for the little gift that I choose to give.

I used the Maggie Holmes collection from Crate Paper to create my card.
Some other ideas that you can choose to include in your card could be:
Chocolates
Seeds
Tea of Coffee Packs
Gift Cards

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my Thank You Pocket Card!

Amiche di Scrap: Music~

I am back with another creation for the Italian challenge blog, Amiche di Scrap.
The challenge this time around was to create a card with a musical theme. Well, I did that as well as I created a layout of the same theme. This was an easy one for me. As some of you may already know, our whole family is musical.
I have played the french horn for 27 years now! Sean and Margaret play the tuba & piano, and Zoe plays the clarinet and piano.
We have no shortage of musical photos.

For my card I used the Maggie Holmes collection from Crate Paper. It just happened to have some die cuts and tags with music printed on it.

I added a little texture using buttons, lace ribbon and a wooden tag.

So here is the layout that I created for the challenge. A shout out to Faye for hooking me up with the music patterned paper at the last crop that we attended together. It worked out perfectly for this layout.
I have had this photo of us playing in the Cape Breton Orchestra since 2011, it's about time I scrapped it. I think it was the size of the photo that threw me off, it's a 5x12.

I tried to play up the gold accents to bring out the brass in the photo of course!

I also found this great vintage gold button in my stash. The ribbon is from May Arts and oh so pretty.

The tickets, hand dyed doily and stunning flowers that I used are from The Curtsey Boutique. Be sure to pop by and check out all the great embellishments they have to offer.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Project Life First~

I have yet to do much in the form of Project Life style layouts.
So today I am sharing my first PL layout.
I do not have a project life album or page sleeves, so I created this layout in the style but as a single layout.

I created my layout using patterned papers and embellishments from the "Hello My Name Is" collection by Teresa Collins.

I did really enjoy creating this layout and all the little details that came with that. You never know, you may see more Project Life style layouts from this Scrappy Chick!
Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchabilities Reveal #115~

Can you believe it's that time again?!?
It's time for the Sketchabilities Design Team Reveal #115.
This is my first reveal of my second term designing for Sketchabilities, and I am loving every reveal!

I don't know what it is about this collection Dear Lizzy "Neapolitan" by American Crafts, but I have bought the collection twice now. The colours and patterns are just so pretty.

I used one of my favourite photos of a childhood friend and I on our very first day of school. We made the front page of the Truro Daily News with that photo!

The library card, pink tag and coloured twine are all from the Curtsey Boutique. Such fun scrapbook embellishments available.

Thanks for stopping by to check out yet another Sketchabilities reveal!
